Soapbox team event

Soapbox building teambuilding event with b-ceed

Who on the team is doing the soapbox race?

In this team event, build soapboxes and race them.
Maximize the motivation now. Soapboxes are known to almost everyone, but why does a supposedly simple cardboard box captivate so many people? When a newspaper photographer observed children tinkering with wooden packing boxes in 1933 and they turned them into little automobiles, the name was born: because the boxes had previously been used to pack soap. And today, soapbox racing is becoming increasingly popular as a team event.

With the soapbox towards the team event

In the races that developed from this, even girls were allowed to take part, which was unusual for the time. A top speed of up to 60km/h can be reached on a slightly sloping racetrack up to 500 metres long. Large manufacturers such as Chevrolet sponsored the races and helped them gain popularity. In the post-war period, soapbox racing also spread to Germany. Here Opel was the main sponsor for a long time. At this time, the Opel Prize was created, which was an incentive for so many participants that entire clubs, the ADAC and numerous publishing houses gave their employees time off for it. In the 50s, at the peak of the soapboxes, 20,000 spectators were not uncommon at the races.

Precision in building soapboxes

This fascination continues to this day, and not just among children! Despite all the mechanization in everyday life, it may be especially the attraction to be able to present something handmade as a race car. The soapbox team event requires precision. The participants need patience when building the soapboxes. Because even the smallest mistake in the assembly will be immediately noticeable in the subsequent race. The art lies in the detail.

Team event with fun factor

The construction of the soapboxes and the subsequent comparison in the race is ideal for large and small teams. The team event soapbox already starts with the construction. In which order will the soapbox be built? Who takes care of the creative part? In the end, the only thing that counts is which team has the most beautiful, best and, above all, fastest soapbox of all at the event. Besides the teamwork there is a high fun factor. Your own "team branding" gives the soapbox the perfect finishing touch. With spray cans and acrylic paints there are no limits to creativity. One guarantee of this team event is that no two soapboxes will be the same. Ambition and passion are required here. In the "qualifying" the self-made racing car is tested.

Real racing feeling even without horsepower

A marked race course, spectators with flags and whistles as well as a race instructor are of course part of it. After the race, there is a fitting award ceremony for the winning teams. A final team picture on the winner's podium, including a "champagne shot", brings the team together and is ultimately the best memory of the day. Pure team motivation.
