How do we plan our Christmas party right? 5 tips from the pros

Summer is over and with it the beautiful and warm season is now really going bye-bye. What are many companies doing wrong now? Quite simply: they end up in the event blues and don't even think about the fact that others are snatching away the best events and ideas for Christmas parties right before their eyes. Well, that's how it goes in many companies in Germany. Remembering the Christmas party is like the good resolution you make every New Year's Eve: next year I'll do better. But where to take it from if there is no motivation? Today we give you 5 tips on how to plan the next Christmas party perfectly.

1. planning a Christmas party: when is the perfect time?

Some are too early and may overlook better and cheaper alternatives and others go about it with "last minute beaviour". The planning of the Christmas party can be much easier. The best time for this is in late August / early September. Around this time, many are still in summer mode and caterers and event agencies are still able to negotiate. Of course, it also depends on the size of your company. If you are expecting 50 or more guests, you should plan earlier and the beginning of July is perfect.

The rule of thumb: when it's no longer too warm but not yet too cold outside, preheat so no one ends up freezing 😉

2. how do i find the right theme for the christmas party?

90s theme party Christmas party Düsseldorf NeussWhat sounds at first like preparing the birthday of the kids is in fact a supreme discipline. After all, adults are much more difficult to convince. It is not done with a colorful hat, streamers and a nice name. Anyone planning a themed Christmas party for their company should think carefully about what suits the company. A Mallorcaparty in a DAX enterprise to accomplish is conceivably crazy. One should discuss here once with the personnel department, which types of coworkers are active in the enterprise. If you know your people and how they like to party, you should go straight for an unusual motto and take the ticket to the 90s, for example. Party people and alpha animals will be at home at such an event.

3. dressing up mandatory? What is the correct dress code?

So that people who work for a car company, for example, don't feel as if they have to sell the new model of the combi series at the Christmas party, a dress code should be prescribed to match the motto. In many companies there is the misconception that you have to be "Dressed like Best" at a Christmas party. Men should indeed leave their tie in the closet and for the ladies it doesn't have to be the floor-length evening dress. Just as with the motto of the Christmas party, you should pay close attention to the characters of your company. After all, who wants to be over- or underdressed?

4. the food, buffet or menu? Or something completely different?

christmas party with a difference: fondue evening by b-ceedActually, each of us knows the difference between buffet and menu. In general, these two forms of festive food intake are standard in German companies. But what if you were to call for something totally different on the menu this year? As event planning company for example, you are used to presenting exceptional catering to your customers. You can do this as a company as well, perhaps by offering a Christmas Fondue evening or you can talk to your people at the Winter crickets go. These are strong alternatives to the disdainful standards and again the circle closes: motto, clothing and food must fit.

Five. Decorations. Do we need decorations for the Christmas party?

Of course! The part of decoration and the appropriate trappings is the setting of your Christmas party. With decorations, you subtly activate the good mood of the participants and thus their identification with the theme. For example, if you use giant balloons, candelabras, and gold chains for a 1920s Golden Gatsby Christmas party, attendees will identify with the theme right from the start because, after all, if they follow these five tips, they will be dressed in style at best. Additional table decorations, menu cards in a suitable form and give-aways round off the fun. Add to this an authentic cocktail and the mood is already top, even before the DJ starts with his set.
